Dentist in Greenville

Gum Disease

There are many people that think gum disease only occurs in older people. If you are one of these people it's time to learn a little bit about gum disease. A dentist in Greenville says that while gum disease on a serious level is seen more in older folk, it's nothing rare to see teenagers and children with gum disease as well. If gum disease is left untreated it can cause problems like bad breath and tooth loss. The good news is there are ways to prevent gum disease as well as treat it.

Gum disease is usually caused by a lack of good oral hygiene. When people begin to be lazy and avoid brushing and flossing on a daily basis, it's nothing uncommon for people at any age to have gum disease. A lot of times the prevention is the same as the treatment. Good oral hygiene in most cases is the answer to treat it. However in more serious cases surgery is often needed to fix the damage done by gum disease.

The dentist in Greenville says that gum disease is looked at many times by something simple and nothing to worry about. However if treatment and prevention are not done, they can lead to tooth loss, which is embarrassing and can be costly to repair. Don't let gum disease bother you. Prevent it before it happens, and if you already have it, take the precautions necessary to treat it.

Dentist in Hamilton

Brushing

There are many people in the world who don't know how to brush their teeth the right way says a dentist in Hamilton. If one brushes their teeth the wrong way it can actually cause problems in the mouth with the gums and teeth. When brushing too hard the gum line begins to recede this can cause tooth loss later on in life. It can also wear down the teeth quickly causing spaces to be formed in the teeth. The best thing to do is learn how to do it the right way.

The right way to brush your teeth is to brush using a circular motion and applying little pressure, especially if you use an electric toothbrush. Electric toothbrushes do the circular motion alone and it’s unnecessary to brush with force. It’s also important to use a toothbrush that has the brushes softer so your teeth aren’t hurt or damaged. When brushing, it’s also wise to tilt the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle and brush for about 2-3 minutes.

The dentist in Hamilton always gives a toothbrush to his patients after a dental check up. After he gives the toothbrush to his patients, he then gives them a rough explanation like the one given above about the right way to brush the teeth. If one brushes their teeth the right way, one can keep their teeth healthy for a life time.

The Worst foods For the Mouth

Everybody knows that the foods we eat can affect the overall oral health of our teeth and gums, but which foods are the ones we should avoid to keep them strong? A dentist in Kent explains how people are always asking him what foods they should avoid. He goes on to explain what types of foods should be avoided and why.

The first group of foods that should be avoided is candies and sweets. Hard candies are the worst for your mouth. They contain sugars and take a long time to dissolve in the mouth, giving sugar more time to eat away at the teeth. Starchy foods like bread and chips are also bad for the teeth because it’s easy for them to get stuck in between the teeth. Soda pop as well is horrible for the teeth because they contain tons of sugar and other acids that eat away the teeth.  Alcohol and smoke are also other addictions people have that destroy their teeth. Stay away from these foods and it will be easier to keep your teeth healthy and strong.

The dentist in Kent goes on to say that the foods we eat are very important not only for our health but for our teeth as well. It is very important to eat healthy foods and stay away from sugary unhealthy foods for a healthy mouth.

Dentist in Irvine

Wisdom Teeth

About three years ago I was feeling a very strange pressure along my jaw line. It affected my vision and even made my ears ring a little bit. I went to a doctor and he told me that it would be better to see a dentist. My wisdom teeth were coming in and it was time to take them out. I called my dentist in Irvine and made an appointment to see him. When I went in he told me my wisdom teeth were indeed ready to come out. We then made an appointment for the operation.

When the operation day came I was a little bit nervous however I was confident everything would be ok. My dentist is an expert who's been removing wisdom teeth for years. He explained to me that wisdom teeth usually grow in at angles, pushing against other teeth. Teeth then become crooked and it can be painful. He said my ringing ears and sore eyes were signs of wisdom teeth growth. He said it was good I came to him before it caused any more problems.

I’m glad I called my dentist in Irvine. He got me wisdom teeth out in no time at all. My mouth was sore for a few days and my cheeks puffed up like a balloon. All are common side effects of the surgery. About two weeks later my mouth was back to normal. My ears didn't ring anymore and my eyes weren't sore either. The best part is my jaw line doesn't hurt and I still have my straight teeth and great smile. All thanks to my dentist.
