Wisdom Teeth

     When I was fifteen years old a dentist in Fort Lauderdale invited me to participate in a study for a new pill that would be used to prevent pain after the removal of the wisdom teeth. He said my wisdom teeth were ready to be removed and they offered me 200 dollars. I accepted the offer and asked the dentist why the wisdom teeth needed to be removed. Here is what he said to me.

     The wisdom teeth are located in the very back of the mouth and many times are unseen. They tend to grow in at an angle and this causes them to push against the other teeth making them crooked and can cause a need for braces later on. The removal of them is fairly simple and only takes about 5 minutes per tooth. It isn’t always necessary to have all four of them removed.

     After the explication given by the dentist in Fort Lauderdale I felt good about having them removed. I went in for the surgery, they tested the pill on me and it did not work. My mouth hurt like crazy and my cheeks swelled up like a balloon. After about a week the swelling went down and I felt a lot better.  The sooner the wisdom teeth are removed the better.
